Yes, there are many scientific studies on persuasion techniques.  A primary goal of software engineering is to make a decision as fast and accurate as possible, however some decisions involve large amounts of information and require human expertise. His findings confirmed that although people were initially forced to adhere to certain rules and regulations, most of them lost their grip on reality during the course of their stay in the prison.
